Today on Ecléctico you're listening to Ray Pérez y El Grupo Casabe, a salsa group led by musician, singer, pianist, composer, and arranger Ray Pérez, originally from Barcelona, the capital of the state of Anzoátegui in Venezuela. Pérez led several groups in his day, but this short-lived combo, active in 1974 and 1975, pushed the boundaries of salsa. They owned the straight-ahead style while also incorporating slower funky grooves, like they did on today's song.
